Joyce Davis

August 3, 1935 — March 19, 2025

Maryville, TN

With deep love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we celebrate the homegoing of Joyce Davis, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Joyce was called home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and unwavering love that touched all who knew her.

As the beloved wife of a pastor, Joyce’s steadfast faith and gentle spirit were a guiding light in the lives of many. She was a pillar of strength and encouragement, offering a warm embrace and a heartfelt prayer. She wholeheartedly supported her husband in his ministry, serving alongside him with grace and dedication. She sang in the church choir, helped with Bible Schools, and chaperoned many youth choir and mission trips.

She loved to travel across the country, as well as abroad, but her favorite vacation was on a beach along the Gulf Coast. She had a large collection of shells which she picked up on her morning walks on the sand. She always wanted to go to the beach "one more time" and cherished the times she was with her family there.

Joyce enjoyed crafts such as sewing and needlework. When her daughters were young, she made many of their clothes. She also found great joy in making baby blankets for her grandkids and great-grandkids. One Christmas, she lovingly crafted purses out of old jeans for all the females in the family, which they affectionately call their "butt-bags."

She also enjoyed making beautiful oil paintings, many of which adorn the walls of family homes. Joyce had a love for growing flowers, especially orchids and irises, tending to them with care and appreciation for their natural beauty and vibrant colors.

Joyce enjoyed many types of food and always complimented whatever was served, but her favorites included seafood, fresh home-grown tomatoes, steak, corn on the cob, and Sonic milkshakes.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Ted Eugene Davis, her father, Byron Edgar Davis, and mother, Sarah Emily Steele Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Hank and Faye Tye; niece, Debbie Garrison; nephew, Mike Treace.

She is survived by her children: Kim (Larry) Moses of Athens, TN, Kathy (Ed) Stuteville of Bradenton, FL, and Karen (Jeff) Elliott of Maryville, TN; her grandchildren: Jon (Maegan) Heath, Andrew (Jennifer) Moses, Emilee (Jordan) Hurst, Nikki (David) Caywood, Allison (Steven) Escobedo, Sarah Moses, Blake (Shandi) Stuteville, Moriah (Mason) Cantrell, Jordan (Emily) Elliott, Laura (Ethan) Averette, and Faith Elliott; her great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Green & Hadley Heath, Emma & Andee Hurst, Crissie Grace & Daxton Caywood, Kairi & Kerrigan Escobedo, Chloe & Aubree Stuteville, Lawson, Grace, Emersyn & Eden Averette, Elliott Grace & Coulter Cantrell, and Annie Ruth Elliott; her sister MaryAnne Treace; brother Charles (Mary) Davis; and many nieces and nephews.

While we will miss her dearly, we find peace in knowing that Joyce has been welcomed into the arms of her Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will forever live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
