Josephine Beryl McManus, age 63, of Louisville, entered God's Kingdom suddenly in her home Thursday morning, February 21, 2002. A devoted Christian, loving wife and mother, Josephine touched everyone with her courage, strength, and kind and gentle spirit. She always had a radiant smile and warming welcome for everyone she met. She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church since arriving from England 26 years ago. Josephine devoted her life to helping others. She taught Sunday School for many years and was involved with several Catholic charities including Dismas House and the Decisions program for inmates. She was a member of the Fairview Elementary PTA and a much loved substitute teacher for many years. She was also an active volunteer for the William Blount High School marching band for 8 years. She had a true love and appreciation of nature, and was a member of the Smokey Mountain Gardening Club for many years. She will be greatly missed by so many friends and loved ones around the world. She was preceded in death by her father, Percival Frank Denning of England. Survivors include: husband, Michael John McManus; daughters, Amanda McManus of Atlanta, GA, and Dianne McManus-Atkin and son-in-law Mark Atkin of Knoxville; mother, Josephine Denning of England; sister, Lila Yeates and brother-in-law Norman Yeates of England; god-daughter, Andrea McMurray of Maryville; several brothers and sisters-in-laws and nieces and nephews in Australia and England. The family will receive friends at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Sunday, February 24, from 5-7:00 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church Monday, February 25, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Alex Waraksa officiating.
