Joseph R. Coope, Jr.

Joseph R. Coope, Jr., age 91 of Maryville passed away Saturday September 1, 2007 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Joe was a member of Dotson Memorial Baptist Church and a veteran pilot during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. And Susan Coope; sister, Lillian Smith and grandson, Joseph Coope. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bernice (Polly) Coope; sons, Steve Coope and wife Elaine of Winchester, TN, Alan Coope and wife Sandra of Maryville, and David Coope and wife Sharon of Maryville; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Lako and Virginia Lowery, both of Knoxville. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Highland Memorial Cemetery on Sutherland Ave. in Knoxville at 11 A.M. with Rev. Charlie Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 4 from 6- 7:30 P.M. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. The family members offer special thanks to the staff at Blount Memorial Hospital, BMH Hospice and Maryville Healthcare, who helped care for Joe and the patience they showed during his illness.
