Joseph Clay Owens, 89, of Maryville, passed away at the family home on July 29. He was a long-time member of Monte Vista Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Navy, and retired from ALCOA's Tennessee Operations North Plant Truck Shop. Joe grew up in Back Valley in Morgan Co., TN before moving to Blount Co. to work at ALCOA His first wife, Nola Gregory Owens; his parents, Ola and Fannie Hinds Owens; a sister, Grace Owens McKinney; two brothers, Johnny and Damon Owens preceded him in death. He is survived by a brother, Don, of Oliver Springs; his wife of 42 years, Margaret Lynn Weaver Owens; daughters, Delories Goodman of Maryville, Betty (Rick) Hamilton of Centennial Co., Melissa (Mike) McBrayer of Birmingham, AL; two grandchildren, Luke and Maggie of Birmingham, AL; three step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Howard G. Olive and Rev. Jerry H. Mantooth officiating. The interment will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:30 p.m. Friday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. In lieu of flowers, memorial should be made to Monte Vista Baptist Church, 1735 Old Niles Ferry Rd., Maryville, TN 37803 or Habitat for Humanity, 1017 Hampshire Drive, Maryville, TN. 37801.
