Johnnie Grace (JG) Chapman Waters radiated Heaven with her beautiful blue eyes and brilliant smile. She left her sweetheart and husband Milburn Waters, behind with a broken heart. Born July 8, 1930 here in Maryville, moved to War, West Virginia until age 5 when she moved back to Maryville and remained until her death July 11 , 2017. She met her kindred spirit and love of her life when she was 15. Sitting in a Forest Hill Church service she winked at Milburn, smiled once and he was putty in her hands from then on. They were married June 24, 1949 at Forest Hill Baptist Church where they remained life long members. From their marriage three children were born, Pamela (Randy) Speed, the late Conchita Lynn Waters and Brent (Libby) Waters. Three grandchildren Ashley (Brandon) Speed, Brandon (Jenna) Waters and Ben (Samantha) Waters. They were also blessed with Five Great Grandchildren Grace, Parker, Lincoln, Tatum and the late Braylee Speed. Adopted grandchildren, John and Kira Lichlyter and Lindsey Payne. Other family left filled with sorrow at her passing are Brothers James (Pat) Young, Dewey (JoAnn) Young, Charles (Donna) Young, Sisters Carolyn (Herman) Fleming and Nancy (Reed) Bryson, Sisters in law Cindy Young and Kay Young. She is preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Della Mae and Esco Young, Brothers Lazell Chapman, Don Young and Larry Young, Sisters and Brothers in law Pauline Chapman (Ray) Millsaps, Juanita Chapman (Lonnie) Cope, many nieces, nephews and cousins. JG was known all across the country and pond for her delicious cooking. When friends visited their staying memory was her mouthwatering food and the 'welcome to our home' feeling. She loved animals of all kinds and has rescued many wild birds from death after hitting a window. JG possessed the gift of numerous talents. She sang like the birds she loved so and also held the ability to draw and paint. But of all her many talents was her ability to brighten a room and the people in it. There was never any doubt that you were always welcome in her home and if she could help you in any way she did so with a willing and generous spirit. Our lives as well as those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with JG were blessed in a special way. She was a member of the Mary Blount Order of Eastern Star, the Maryville Alcoa Jaycettes and the Sunset Garden Club. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 15, at Forest Hill Baptist Church, from 2 to 4 PM with funeral services to follow. The family will have a private burial. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Thomas and Rev. Johnnie Thornton of GA. Pallbearers will consist of Grandsons and Nephews. A very special thank you to Dr. Kim Cline for her love and caring of our Mother and to her staff, as well as the staff at Morningview TCC, without who's help Mother's passing would not have been without pain when the Angels came for her.
