John Wesley (Jake) Clabough, Jr. passed away on May 26, 2018 at the age of 99. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Clabough attended ETSU before entering the Army in 1941 and serving in the European theater until 1945. Mr. Clabough was a longtime grocery owner in the Wildwood community and a part time farmer who was one of the first to raise Charolais cattle in Blount County. He was an avid sportsman who for many years traveled to Alaska to fish in the summer months and to the Midwest to hunt quail and pheasant in the winter with one of his many beloved birddogs. In 1973, he and several local businessmen organized and opened CBBC bank in Maryville. He served on the Board of Directors from 1973 until his retirement in 2015. Mr. Clabough lived in Wildwood his entire life and was a longtime member of Logans Chapel United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lila King and John Wesley Clabough, Sr.; siblings Lela Burnette, Ina Teffeteller, Beulah Gray, Nevada Clark, and Rex Clabough. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Virginia Drinnon Clabough; sons and daughter in law John Clabough III, William (Bill) and Judy Clabough; grandchildren Chad and Carla Clabough, Randy and Tracy Purcell, Trent and Amy Long, Scott and Becky Worde; great grandchildren Jacob and Jewell Clabough, Gabe, Laurel and Lily Long, and Avery, Sidney and Carver Worde. Serving as pallbearers are Chad Clabough, Randy Purcell, Scott Worde, Trent Long, Gabe Long, Jacob Clabough, Avery Worde and Carver Worde. Funeral services will be held on May 28, 2018 at 10:00 am at Logans Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Charles Ledger officiating. Burial will be held immediately following in Logans Chapel Cemetery.
