John Charles ‘Charlie” Rogers
May 10, 1943 – March 15, 2025
Charlie Rogers was born on May 10, 1943 to Charles Glenn Rogers and Edra Mayes Rogers. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Rogers, and nephew, Scott McInturff.
He graduated from Alcoa High School where he played Trombone in the band. He also graduated from Maryville College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He taught history, social studies, and economics at Porter High School for six years before becoming General Manager of Ace Distributors where he worked for over 30 years. He was past president of North Maryville Lions Club. He was also a volunteer in the Adult Literacy Program teaching adults how to read. In addition, he and his wife were volunteers at the Blount County Animal Center for 8 years which he enjoyed very much. He presently attended Everett Hills Baptist Church where he and his wife sang in the choir until he was unable to do so. He and his wife enjoyed several trips out west with dear friends and were avid UT football fans holding season tickets for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Linda Culveyhouse Rogers. They were married for over 58 years. They met while working at the White Store # 26 while going to college. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Rogers Capps, nephew Eric McInturff, great nieces, Hannah, Sarah, and Mollie McInturff and great nephews Sean and Nick McInturff. Charlie was a sharp, witty person who loved to watch all sports. He greatly enjoyed watching UT beat Texas the afternoon of his passing. He was a wonderful husband, brother, uncle, and friend and will be greatly missed. We want to thank Blount Memorial Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital where he received excellent care. Also, we wish to thank all our friends and family who were praying for him. We would especially like to thank Dr. Don Thompson for visiting Charlie on the day of his passing. He told funny stories and sang some funny songs which he wrote; that put a smile on Charlie’s face. Don along with their wonderful nephew, Eric and and wife, Linda, joined hands and sang “Jesus Loves Me,” which brought peace to all. We know Charlie is now with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20, from 4-6pm. A service officiated by Dr. Don Thompson will follow at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "Friends of the Blount County Animal Center", PO Box 1099 Alcoa, TN 37701.
