John Nathan Sides

John Nathan Sides, age 63, passed away September 24 at 8:26 pm following a battle with cancer. He was predeceased by parents, Carl Ray Sides, Sr. and Evelyn Sides of Morristown, TN. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Carl Ray Sides, Jr. and Earleen Sides, of Cropwell, AL, nephew, Geoffrey Sides and wife Kat of Birmingham, AL, niece, Jennifer Sides, and great nephew, Colton Sharit and great niece, Ella Lee, all of Buford, GA. He also leaves behind his long time friend and companion, Lucinda Young of Maryville, TN. Mr. Sides was a military veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a life-long martial arts enthusiast and an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He was also a thespian, fossil and rock collector, and was skilled in multiple handicrafts. As a gardener, he enjoyed growing heirloom vegetables for several years at his home in Maryville. His family and friends will be received on Saturday, October 1, at 132 Park Drive, Maryville, TN for an informal celebration of his life between 1:00 and 4:00 pm.
