John Matthew Cochran

John Matthew Cochran, age 99, passed away on September 15, 2024. He was a Korean Veteran and a 32nd Mason. He was a Master Tech for Ford transmissions with Costner Eagleton Motors. He worked for the Blount County School System by setting up the Auto Mechanics Program at William Blount High School and later at Heritage High School. He served 17 years with the school system. He was a Past Board Member for The Farm Bureau and The TN Co-Op. He loved his old Buicks and tractors, and he donated two tractors to the Greenback Historical Society and the Greenback Museum. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Mae (Jill) Cochran; mother, Carmer Peterson Cochran; father, Cecil H. Cochran; sisters, Edna Maples, Dale Montgomery, Eleanor Denton; brother, Charles Cochran.

He is survived by his sister, Darlene C. Kerley; several nieces, and great-nieces.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home and the service will follow at 6:00 PM, with Rev. Jonathon Jonas officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 19th at Grandview Cemetery for the interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Maryville or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
