Joann Cowden Pierce

JoAnn Cowden Pierce, age 81 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Brookdale Browns Creek of Maryville. She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was employed as a RN at Blount Memorial Hospital for 38 years. Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Larry H. Pierce; father and mother, Henry M. Cowden, and Virginia Burnett; Brothers Fred Cowden and Donald Cowden; Sister Evelyn Cowden Dockery.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Stephanie Pierce of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Lori (Pierce) and Bryan Tate of Johnson City; grandsons, Nicholas Pierce and wife Jessica, C.J. Pierce, Christian Pierce and Neva Natale, Taylor Pierce and Donnita Thomas, Benjamin Edwards, Brady Tate; granddaughters, Laurel Edwards and Hanna Tate; great grandchildren, Addison Pierce, Houston Pierce, Levi Pierce, Mia and Logan Hill; sister, Shirley Ogle; brothers, Ronald Cowden and Paul Cowden.

The family would like to specifically thank the administration and staff of Brookdale Browns Creek and Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care and to our special family friend, Reece.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with funeral services following at 7:00 PM with Rev. Greg Long officiating. The interment will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
