J.L. Thomas Wilson, 91, of Maryville passed away at his home on Saturday, November 12, 2016. He was a WWII Veteran of The U.S. Navy, having served America aboard the USS Gage in the Pacific Theater. He was also a Cold War Patriot at Oak Ridge, TN. Mr. Wilson was a member of First Baptist Church of Alcoa. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas and Molly Etta Best Wilson; brothers, James Monroe Wilson and William Allen Wilson; sisters, Gnez Kerr and Jean Hearon; son, Philip Thomas Wilson. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Iris Jean Murr Wilson; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Betty Wilson; daughters, Beth Grice and Marianne Vilson; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Ella Maxine Wilson; sister-in-law, Agnes Wilson; brother-in-law, Sterling Hearon; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:30pm Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 3:00pm at Centenary Cemetery.
