Jessie (Burchfield) James, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She was born September 8, 1919 in Cades Cove, TN, to the late Jessie and Susan (Tipton) Burchfield. She finished her education at the Cable School, in Cades Cove, and was a Charter Member of Cades Cove Missionary Baptist Church. She had to leave Cades Cove at age sixteen, when the National Park Service took over. She settled in Maryville. She was a member of Cades Cove Memorial Missionary Baptist Church for many years, then joined Old Piney Baptist Church, where she taught the ladies Sunday School Class for thirty years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew James; son, Dwight James; brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil and Eunice Burchfield and Clyde and Margaret Burchfield. She is survived by: “special†granddaughter, Tammy Allen and husband Kenny; great grandchildren, Zachary, Caleb, Logan, Hannah (Brea) Allen, whom she loved dearly; nieces, Carolyn (Burchfield-Best) Trentham, Helen Harrington and husband Bruce, Sharon Choat and husband Dennis; nephews, Carlos Burchfield and wife Hazel, Gary Burchfield and wife Marjie; great nieces, great nephews and cousins; special friends, Darlene and Alfred Roberson, Ronnie Millsaps, Rev. Tim Martin, and Harold Richey. She dearly loved her Church family and friends at Old Piney Baptist Church, she was a good Christian lady who read her Bible daily. She loved going around Cades Cove to see the deer and bears, visiting the three Churches, and having a picnic lunch with her niece, Carolyn. Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Forest Hill Baptist Church Cemetery for a graveside service, where she will be laid to rest by her husband, Andrew James. Rev. Rex Everett and Rev. Tim Martin will officiate. Friends may call at their convenience at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Rev. Rex Everett, Old Piney Baptist Church and friends for all the visits and praying for Jessie. Also, thanks to the Nurses, and Physical Therapist at Colonial Hills Nursing Center, the Blount Memorial Hospice Team for their care and McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
