Jesse Jean Garrott

Garrott, Jesse Jean- Age 81, of Maryville, Tennessee died on November 27, 2008 at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. He had lived for many years with Alzheimer’s disease. Jesse Jean Garrott was born on September 12, 1927 in Union County, IL to Jesse Jefferson and Ivah (Keller) Garrott. He married Beverly Joann Capesius on July 2, 1960. They made their home in Northbrook, Illinois. Jess worked as a high school English teacher and elementary school learning disabilities teacher. He was a dedicated husband and father, youth soccer coach, Episcopal Church member and an avid reader and book collector. He retired from teaching in 1989 and moved to Maryville, TN. Jess is survived by his wife, Joann Garrott; children Hugh Garrott (Ingrid Halverson) of Onalaska, WI and Luke Garrott (Jennifer Gordon) of Salt Lake City, UT; and grandsons Kai and Oliver Garrott, also of Onalaska, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Kenneth Keller and Wayne Wallace Garrott. A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Maryville. The interment will follow in New Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends folloing the service at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
