Jesse G. Byrd Jr.

June 26, 1936 — November 9, 2009

Jesse G. Byrd Jr. -age 73 of Friendsville, passed away Monday morning November 9th. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years, retiring in 1974. He later retired in 1986 from E-Systems/Raytheon completing a life of service filled with distinguished achievements and the respect of his co-workers. Jesse was the best father and husband that anyone could ask for. He was adored by family and friends. He was a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church. In his free time, he was passionate about coaching children’s baseball/basketball and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Guy Byrd Sr and Grace Robbins Byrd, and his brother Hollis. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Margaret Jane Buckner Byrd, children Judy Hefner and husband Bob, Donna Best, Gary Byrd and wife Tami. Grandchildren Ken Dyess, Christine Best, Michelle Best, Jesse Guy Byrd III, Courtney Byrd, Cody Byrd, Ben Byrd, Heidi Byrd, Darby Byrd and Haley Byrd. Step Grandchildren Marty Hefner, Denise Hefner, and Lindsey Best. Great Grandson Lucas Scott Hayden. He is survived also by two well-loved sisters, Charlotte Dudrow (Robert) and JoAnn Sawyer, both of Griffin, Georgia. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:00-3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
