August 4, 1953 — November 11, 2002

WOODS, Jess Allan, Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Alcoa, age 49, passed away Monday, November 11, 2002, at his home. He joined the fire department in 1973 and had been Deputy Fire Chief since January, 2000. He was a graduate of Everett High School, received an Associate Degree from Walters State Community College, was a member of several fire-fighting and rescue relief organizations and the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Bill Tillery of Murfreesboro, TN; sons, Jared and Jake Woods of Alcoa; grandchildren, Will and Zach Tillery; parents, James and Lovella Woods of Maryville; brother, Danny Woods of Maryville. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, Alcoa with Chaplain Danny Davis officiating. Mr. Woods was cremated and the family requests No Flowers. Memorials may be made to the Allan Woods Children’s Fund, c/o any Sun Trust Bank in Blount County.
