Jean Lambert

March 29, 1929 — January 27, 2016

Jean Lambert passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 27 at Shannondale Health Center in Maryville, Tennessee. Jean was born on March 29, 1929 in Maryville. She and her sister, Betty Jo Badgett, were the only daughters of Leon and Ina Teffeteller. Jean is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Harold Lambert. During their early years of marriage, they had three children: Kathy, Randy, and Sherry. Kathy and her husband Tom Howard reside in Alcoa. Randy and his wife, Laney, and Sherry and her husband, Karl Miller, reside in Maryville. Jean loved her family, in particular, family outings and vacations. Even though she spent most of her time cooking during these family gatherings, she still found time for her seven adoring grandchildren: Kevin Painter (Amanda), Shannon Johnson (Andrew), Kami, Jason (Morgan), and Wes Lambert (Kelsey), and Ty and Paige Miller. Her celebration of each day and interaction with family never waivered with the birth of her seven great grandchildren. "Jeannie", as she was referred to by the children, dearly loved each one. During Jean's life, she made many lasting friends. She enjoyed playing bridge and tennis or maybe just a cup of coffee around the kitchen table. She was a very caring, loving person who always put her family and friends before herself. She was a proud member of Maryville First United Methodist and was often volunteering at the Welcome Table. Harold and Jean were very generous in supporting Maryville College, the University of Tennessee, the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Tennessee, and the Maryville City School System. She enjoyed going to the Maryville College Basketball games and cherished her interaction with the fans and players. She was always quick with a smile, a hug, and a "How are you honey" expression of genuine concern. Throughout her life, Jean touched many lives in a meaningful way. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church for the Building Fund or Welcome Table. The church address is: 804 Montvale Station Road, Maryville, Tennessee 37803. A graveside service will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville on Friday, January 29 at 3:00 pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Receiving of friends will follow the service from 4:00 to 6:00 Friday evening at First United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank Millie Poe, the many dedicated caregivers of HomeWatch, and all of the doctors, nurses, and staff at Shannondale for the care and love given to Jean.
