Jean Hood

HOOD, Jean Bissell of Louisville passed away Saturday, July 27, 2002 at her home after a long illness. Mrs. Hood was the widow of the late J. William (Bill) Hood, Jr., founder of Cornerstone of Recovery. She served on the Board of Directors of the residential treatment center and was the consulting dietician. Mrs. Hood was treasurer of her Al-Anon group and treasurer of the 9 hole lady golfers at Green Meadow Country Club, and was a member of several bridge clubs. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and participated with the ''PeaceKeepers'', a quilting group. She was born on January 17, 1928 in New Kensington, PA and was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Dietetics. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and James Bissell, and sister Kathryn Ames. Survivors are her daughters, their husbands and grandchildren: Carol and Paul Schuler, Mary Ann and Sara Jean Schuler of Langsville, Ohio; Dr. Margaret Hood (Beth) and Christopher Burnham, Erik William Burnham of Round Hill, Virginia; Susan and Lawrence Toth, Lauren Michelle and Nicholas Bela Toth of Medina, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law John W. Hood III and Sheri Carder Hood and granddaughter Megan Elizabeth Hood of Louisville; Cousins Janet Gerlinger, Dr. Jay Jenkins and Dr. James Jenkins and nephew Richard Ames; sister-in-law Marmi Hood Mairs of Louisville. The family will receive friends at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Interment will be private. A Memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Maryville on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Martha P. Sterne officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to Saint Andrew's Church, 314 W. Broadway, Maryville 37801 or to a charity of your choice.
