Jason Wayne Blackburn, age 34 of Johnson City, TN, formerly of Maryville, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN, after a brief illness. Jason, the son of George (Mike) and Patricia Blackburn, was born April 18, 1974, in Evansville, IN. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a graduate of Maryville High School, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and the University of Tennessee School of Law. He was an attorney in Johnson City, TN, a member of the TN Bar Association and Washington County Bar Association. He was preceded in death by grandmothers, Phyllis Hopp and Betty Blackburn of Indiana. Jason is survived by his parents; brother, Scott and wife Therese of Frisco, TX, niece and nephews, Taylor, Ryan, and Joshua Blackburn; brother, Mark and wife Valerie of Franklin, TN, niece and nephews, Mason, Dawson, and Annison Blackburn; grandfathers, Dwight Hopp and George Blackburn of Frankfort, IN. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, with services to follow at 8:00 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville, TN. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Mausoleum for the entombment service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jason’s name to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1301 E. Broadway, Maryville, TN 37804. Memorials may be made in Jason’s name that will support the liver transplant program at Methodist Transplant Institute, in care of Methodist Healthcare Foundation, P. O. Box 42048, Memphis, TN 38174.
