Jarvin A. Dyer

March 26, 1933 — May 15, 2002

DYER, Jarvin A., age 69 of Greenback, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a member and Deacon of Upper Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid gospel music fan and assistant choir director. He also sang with the Antioch Quartet, which was a family group, for many years. Jarvin and his former employer, J. W. “Bill” Wallace, was the first business to bring David Brown Tractors into Tennessee in 1962. He worked in sales and service at the business for 22 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Myrtle Dyer; sister, Bonnie Lail; and a brother, Dolphus. Survivors include: wife, Ruth Quillen Dyer; son and daughter-in-law, William and Vickie Dyer of Greenback; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Michael Arp of Friendsville; grandchildren, Krista and Anthony Dyer and Caleb and Daniel Arp; special nieces, Kayla and Heather Cargile; nephews, Dennis and Darrell Lail; uncle, Lacy Crisp; cousins, Clyde and Larry Crisp. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Friendship Baptist Church, 3310 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville, TN, with Rev. Ronnie White, Rev. Robert Watkins and Rev. John Russell officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Bob Kirkland and Rev. Jimmy Rinner officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church, 3310 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville, TN.
