Janie Geneva Carver Evans

Janie Geneva Carver Evans, age 94 of Greenback, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, surrounded by family at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was an immaculate housekeeper, excellent cook, seamstress, and avid gardener. She was a Loving Wife, Mother, Nanny, and Christian.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Newman Evans, Jr; son, Ronnie Evans; daughter-in-law, Ramona Evans; grandson, Travis McCollum; parents, James Marion Carver and Emma Lou Hicks Carver, siblings; Elzie Carver, Emerson Carver, Bud Carver, R.D. Carver, Leecie Grisham and Betty Lou Blair.

Geneva was married to the late Ellis Newman Evans, Jr. for 66 years. The parents of Faye McCollum and husband Eddie, Debbie Hammontree and husband David, Ronnie Evans (deceased) and wife Alma Evans, Mike Evans and wife Ramona (deceased), Teresa Evans, Pam Queen and husband Dennis.

Geneva was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was very active in the women’s class, Women on a Mission, bible school and nursery. Geneva was “Nanny” to 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chad Evans, Darby Hammontree, Deriek Hammontree, Chris Garmon, Gabe Evans, and Ryan Queen.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00PM, Friday, January 26th at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with the service to follow. Officiating will be Mike Evans and Rev. Bill Johnson. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 27th for the interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Greenback.
