March 29, 1938 — August 3, 2003

Russell Alvin Chambers, Jr., 66 and Janet Gaynell Chambers, 65 both of Friendsville, passed away August 3, 2003. Russ was preceded in death by his parents Russell Alvin Chambers, Sr. and Eleanor Diane Chambers and Janet by her father Kenneth Welch. Russ and Janet were childhood sweethearts that were married almost 50 years. They traveled the world together and were never apart. Their lives were filled with humor, laughter and romance. Russ was a Korean War Veteran. He served in the US Marine Corp. Russ retired from ALCOA in 1992 after 25+ years of service. Janet was a full-time mother of five children and independent business woman who owned her own arts and crafts business in Alcoa for many years. She was an artist as well and judged several prestigious art shows. Survivors, Janet’s Mother, Belva Shinkle, five children, Son and Daughter-In-Law, Larry and Carol Chambers of North Carolina, Daughter, Pat Unferth of Morristown, Son, Bill Chambers of Maryville, Daughter and Son-In-Law, Susan and Robert Tipton of Maryville and Son and Daughter-In-Law, Scott and Sandra Chambers of Townsend; Grandchildren, DJ Kimsey of Morristown, Aaron and Josh Kimsey of Tucson, Rusty and Mitchel Chambers of Townsend, Heather and Austin Tipton of Maryville, and Samatha, BJ, Brittany and Lucas Chambers of Maryville; Russ’ Brother and Sister-In- Law, Darryl and Blace Chambers of Ohio, and Sister and Brother-In-Law, Susan and Tom Chase of Maine; Janet’s Sister and Brother-In-Law, Donna and Ret. Master Sergeant Don Birdsong of Saudi Arabia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 6, from 6-8:00 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home followed by an 8:00 p.m. memorial service with Rev. Phil Purser officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blount Memorial Hospital Hospice, 1095 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville, TN 37804 or to the Rose Center, P. O. Box 1976, Morristown, TN 37816.
