Jane Ellen Cannon, of Maryville passed away peacefully on May 1, 2018 at the age of 94. Mrs. Cannon was born October 21, 1923 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Charles and Blanche Vanhook and sister to Charles Mather Vanhook. A member of the greatest generation, she married the love her life during World War II and raised a family. How does one put in a few words what her life meant to her family and friends. We cherish and enjoyed the impact that she made on all of us. She was an active member of Maryville First United Methodist Church and proud member of the Garst Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert Bob Cannon. Survivors include: sons James Richard Cannon, and wife Linda, Robert Williams Cannon, Jr., daughter Sandra Leigh Hodson and husband Kenneth. Four grandchildren Kirsten Leigh Cannon, Joanna Erin Cannon, Kari Leigh Hodson, and Matthew Cannon Hodson and wife Kadena. Great grandchildren are Marisa Leigh Bowers, Aiden Cannon Hodson, Hallie S. Rosner, and Dylan Spencer Lupy. A private family internment service will be held at Grandview Mausoleum. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 4:00 pm at First United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Catherine Nance. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00-4:00 pm. The family would like to thank the staff of Shannondale Health Care Center for their compassion and care they gave to Mom in the few months that she was there. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 804 Montvale Station Road, Maryville, TN 37803.
