Jane Benson Parker

Jane Benson Parker, passed away December 13, 2012, in Maryville, TN. She was born on October 8, 1925 in Orlando, FL, the daughter of the late Eula and John A. Benson. Jane was a 1943 graduate of Seminole High School and lived most of her life in Sanford. She was a contestant in the Miss Tangerine Pageant in 1944 and escorted by the governor of Florida. On December 8, 1945, Jane married Homer R. Parker, CPO USN, in Sanford. She is survived by him, her husband of 67 years. Jane is also survived by son, John B. Parker and daughter-in-law, Dr. Janet Parker of Maryville, TN; daughter, Dr. Sylvia Isherwood of Lewisburg, WV; grandson, Avram Cheaney of San Francisco, CA; niece, Diana Beistel of Oveido, FL; niece, Susan Castlen of Orlando, FL; sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Joyce and Bob Weringo of Lynchburg, VA and many other nieces, nephews and friends. Her son, Dayle Parker passed away in 2009 and sister, Ann Haynes in 2008. Jane was a homemaker and loved to cook and collect antiques. She loved animals, especially cats, roses, friends, family and special neighbors in Florida. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sanford, FL. The family wishes to give special thanks to her caregivers, Donna, Julie and Brenda, who took such good care of her in her last few years in Maryville, TN. Their kindness, care and patience will always be remembered by her family. Family and friends will meet at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at East Maryville Baptist Church Cemetery for a graveside service.
