James Thomas Mann, 80, of Sunshine, NC died Monday, February 6, 2017 in Forest City, NC. Fishing was James's passion and he spent many hours fishing and camping with family and friends. He enjoyed sharing his joy of fishing with his beloved grandchildren. James never met a stranger and was kind, giving, and loved by so very many. He was always positive, had a great sense of humor and brought happiness and laughter to everyone around him. James was a very proud US Army Veteran. Although he was a "step dad," he was loved as Dad for 40 years, when he married the love of his life. He was preceded in death by wife Maxine Boring Mann (Maryville); parents Hobert McKinley Mann and Zona Ellison Mann; brother J. B. Mann, sister Doris Mann Lowery; half sister Lena Sansing, and 2 half brothers Hobert Jr. and Bob Mann. He is survived by stepson Larry Boring of Duck River; 3 step daughters, Laverne (Jim) Copenhaver of Ooltewah, Brenda (Jim) Jordan of Charleston, and Janice (Jim) Braun of Maryville. He is also survived by sister Annie Bolick; 6 brothers: Jack, Clifford, Paul, Fred , Colen and Carl Mann, all of NC. He was a wonderful Papaw to 5 grandchildren: Brad (Rebecca) Heaton of Australia; Chris Braun; April (Darrell) Hurley; Jayme (Danielle) Copenhaver; and Brittany Boring. Great grandchildren: Caleb Heaton; Maverick and Dallas Hurley. Funeral services were held in Bostic, NC, on February 7th. On Thursday, Feb 9th, family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm at Kagley's Chapel Baptist Church, Maryville, TN.
