James T. Mcmaster

August 10, 1936 — May 12, 2017

James T. McMaster, 80, died at 1:35am, May 12, 2017, at his residence following a brief illness. He was born August 10, 1936, in Carthage, TN, to the late W. W. and Pauline (Markland) McMaster. On December 6, 1963, he married the former JoAnn Thompson, who survives. Also surviving are his daughters and son-in-law Melissa (Tim) Shockcor, of Lewis Center, OH; and Anissa "Buffy" McMaster, of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Michaela and Zachary Shockcor; a brother and sister-in-law David (Barbara) McMaster, of Greenville, SC; a sister-in-law Judy Magness, Rockford, TN; and a brother-in-law Gene (Janet) Thompson, Maryville, TN. He was predeceased by his brother Richard McMaster. Jim served his country in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged as 1st Lt. in 1962. He earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and an associate's degree in meteorology from Texas A & M. He worked for the former Wear-Ever Aluminum plant until its closing and then retired from Martin Marietta (A-Plant) in 2010. Jim was a former member of the Lion's Club. Private military graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Clarks Grove Cemetery, Maryville, TN, under the direction of McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the James T. McMaster Scholarship Fund, c/o Chillicothe Education Foundation, PO Box 6238, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
