James Roger ''Haystack'' Thomas, Sr.

James Roger “Haystack” Thomas, Sr., age 66 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Fairpark Healthcare Center. He was a member of ALCOA 25 Year Club, Minister of Music and Deacon at East Alcoa Baptist Church and member of Smokey Mountain Knife Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred R. and Velma Simerly Thomas; sister, Judy Coatney. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Thomas; children, James Thomas, Jr., and fiancee, Colleen Conklin, Michelle Allmon, Shelby Thomas and wife Hope; stepchildren, Eric and Tonya Russell, Kevin Russell; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jared Allmon; step grandson, Aaron Russell; sister, Peggy Myers and husband Tom; brother-in-law, Charles Coatney; sister-in-law, Mary King and husband Gene; brother-in-law, Don Wilson and wife Joanne; former wife, Brenda Thomas; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at East Alcoa Baptist Church with Rev. David Randolph, Rev. Tim Kimsey and Rev. Bryan Linginfelter officiating. The interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Carpenters Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Friday at the Church.
