James Quinton Butcher, age 78 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at his home. He was a member of Middlesettlements United Methodist Church, Retired Chief Petty Officer serving in U. S. Navy with 22 years of service as an HMC, member of Fleet Reserve Association 36 years. Preceded in death by father, Carl L. Butcher, mother, Eileen Hunt Owsley. Survived by wife, R. Elaine Neal Butcher; daughter, Cheryl Butcher Link (David); step-daughters, Sandra K. Sawyer (Allen), Teresa G. Morton; step-son, Foy L. Morton, Sr., (April); 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Beeler, Debra Smith; brother, Wayne Owsley; several nieces and nephews; beloved pet, Missy Marshmellow. The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday at Middlesettlements United Methodist Church with funeral service following at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Megan Stubblefield and Chaplain Dennis Lovin officiating. The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Liberty Christian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Middlesettlements United Methodist Church, 2729 Middlesettlements Road, Maryville, TN 37801.
