James (Big Jim) Lester McBrayer, age 80 of Maryville passed away April 2, 2023 at his home. He was a member and deacon of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was the owner of Jim’s Citgo, one of the last full-service gas stations in Blount County. He was an avid fisherman and spent a lot of time teaching his kids and grandkids how to fish. He is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn; parents Lester and Mamie McBrayer; sisters Sue and Shirley McBrayer. Survivors include daughter Teresa Sunderland (Bo); sons Eddie McBrayer (Jan), Mike McBrayer (Kelli) daughter Sherry Linander (Bryan); grandchildren Dallas Hoard, Drew McBrayer, Kaylee McBrayer, Lexi McBrayer, and Gracie McBrayer. Great Grandchildren Ansley Hoard, Claire Hoard, Jaxson Martin; brother Claude McBrayer. He has lots of church friends and special friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday April 4 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Bill Dixon officiating. The entombment will be held April 5 at 1:00 pm at Grandview Mausoleum. Family and friends are welcome to meet at the funeral home at 12:00 pm for a procession to Grandview.
