James Laban Keeble Sr., age 95 of Alcoa, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Shannondale of Maryville. He was a member of Alcoa First United Methodist Church. He retired from ALCOA after 42 years and was a past member of Alcoa Kiwanis. He did tax aide for AARP beginning in 1983 for 32 years. He served in the 8th Weather Squadron, Army Air Force during World War II. Preceded in death by his wife, Dora Belle Hargis Keeble; parents, Laban and Catherine Garner Keeble; brothers and sisters-in-law Kenneth Keeble and wife Onnie, Anderson Keeble and wife Myrl, Leonard Keeble and wife Viola, Clyde Keeble and wife Lois, Charles Keeble and wife Laura, Joe Keeble and wife June; sisters and brothers-in-law Mae and William Gredig, Alice and Jake Whitehead; brothers-in-law Robert Martin and Charles Hale; son-in-law Sam Burton. Survivors include sisters Ella Hale and Nita Martin; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jim Hartley of Alcoa, Susan Keeble of Exeter New Hampshire, Kathy Burton and Cliff Elder of Banner Elk, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, James and Rebecca Keeble of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren Michael and Sarah Bailey (Brian Crowley), Tony Keeble, Dusty McKeelan, (Lindsay), Cynthia Burton; great grandson Davis McKeelan. The family asks that donations, in lieu of flowers, should be for First United Methodist Church of Alcoa (building fund), 617 Gilbert St., Alcoa, TN 37701. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 3, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ty Harrison, Rev. Eric Bronkala, and Rev. Jim Hartley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
