James Kennedy Simcox, 74, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2009. Born in Centralia, Illinois, he went on to become a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, successful businessman, and great friend. After graduating from Centralia Township High School, he served in the US Marine Corps and went on to attend college at the University of Illinois earning a degree in mechanical engineering. After a long and successful career, he retired in Maryville where he was very involved in his church and community, serving on many boards and committees. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dora Mae Hammond; father, Leslie Simcox; and step-father, Chester Chambers. He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Pat Simcox; son, Dave Simcox and wife Trista; daughter, Lynn Long and husband Scott; two brothers, Joe Simcox and wife Nancy and Rick Chambers and wife Jeanette; two sisters, Judy Wernsman and husband Russ and Carol Johnson and husband Harry; and six cherished grandchildren, James, Hannah, Jonathan, Emma, Kaitlyn, and Benjamin. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Saint Paul Lutheran Church on Monday, July 6, 2009. The reception will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the service immediately following at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Saint Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund, 429 Sandy Springs Road, Maryville, TN 37801.
