James (Jim) Norman Umholtz died in the early morning of Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the age of 80. Born in Harrisburg, PA on February 4, 1938, Jim was the son of the late Norman and Phyllis Welker Umholtz. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, a retiree of Quaker Oats, and a member of Southside Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Lambert Umholtz and his three children, Brian Umholtz of Ellenton, FL, Bobbi Whary of Mechanicsburg, PA and Jon Umholtz of Thomasville, NC; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; half brother, Glen Welker, with whom he grew up with and two other half brothers and two half sisters. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Southside Baptist Church, 1620 W. Governor John Sevier Hwy., Knoxville, TN 37920, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Clarence Gresham officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the TN Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway, for the interment service, with full military honors. A luncheon will follow the interment at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church.
