MUNGER, James Austin “Chip”, a longtime properties manager in Sevier County, died suddenly Monday, November 10, 2003, at his home in Gatlinburg. He was 54. Over the past 20 years, Mr. Munger was associated with a number of hotels and motels, as well as other rental properties, in the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge area. Most recently, he was director of sales for Smoky Mountain Resorts. Growing up in Maryville, Mr. Munger was an Eagle Scout and DeMolay. He enjoyed all sports and fishing. He graduated from Maryville High School and the University of Tennessee and worked in Birmingham, AL, Atlanta and other locations before moving back to East Tennessee in the 1980's. In recent years, he became involved with Breakaway Ministries, a national youth ministry. Mr. Munger was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Gorman Frank Munger; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mr. J. O. Munger; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Witt. He is survived by his mother, Lois W. Munger of Oliver Springs; sister, Marcella Herrin of Oliver Springs; brother, Frank Munger of Farragut; uncles, aunts, nephew and niece, cousins and many loving friends. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Franklin officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the interment service.
