James Arthur Blodgett, age 80, of Maryville, TN went home to be with Jesus on July 7, 2022. James (Jim) was born on May 20, 1942 in Williams, Oregon. He graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University. He spent much of his career managing petroleum drilling operations in California, Texas, and Louisiana and finished his career as a project manager for the Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Administration in Nevada. He also served a term as the mayor of Mercury, Nevada (the staff village of the Nevada Test site). Jim was a member of Alcoa-Maryville Church of God and enjoyed occasionally teaching the Bible to adults. He was an avid Bible scholar and wrote his own commentaries for many books of the New Testament. He would tell you that his most important work was being a dedicated husband and father. Jim married the love of his life, Sandra Wilson Blodgett, on September 21, 1963 and spent the next fifty-eight plus years in love and devotion to each other. He is preceded in death by mother and father Mary & Clem Blodgett. He is survived by wife Sandra Blodgett; sister Anita (Fred) Craig of Grants Pass, Oregon; son Paul Arthur (Betty) Blodgett of Snohomish, Washington; daughter Janeen Rae (Kevin) Rodela and children Lauren and Mason of Las Vegas, Nevada; and son Mark John (Nelda) Blodgett and children Austin and Renee of Maryville, Tennessee.
