James Alexander Russell

May 27, 1923 — April 21, 2003

RUSSELL, James Alexander, passed away, Monday, April 21, 2003, at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. He was born to W. Edgar and Lida Gamble Russell on May 27, 1923 in the Louisville area. He joined the Holston College Presbyterian Church at an early age and has been a faithful member of a church always. He moved from his parents home in Toqua to Bob’s home in Troy, Ohio where he lived until he married Nina Cunningham of Maryville. They lived in Ohio until he retired and they moved back to Maryville. Later his health began to decline and he was under the complete, wonderful care of his wife, Nina. Jim is survived by one sister, Mary Evelyn Lane (Mrs. Henry G. Lane) and family; brother and sister-in-law, John E. and Jean Russell of Clearwater, FL; sister-in-law, Jane Russell and family of Troy, Ohio; brother-in-law, Rev. J. Hogue Smith and family of Harrisburg, VA; brother-in- law, Ben Allen Cunningham and wife Margaret and family of Rogersville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of Maryville. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Grandview Cemetery with Dr. Darris Doyal and Dr. Kenneth Gates officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville or at the family home.
