Irene Carson Thomas Gamble

Irene Carson Thomas Gamble, age 100 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Brookdale Sandy Springs. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday and was a 1942 graduate of Porter High School. She was the widow of former state representative, J.R. Gamble, Jr. She was the mother of Roy Gamble, a former Blount County commissioner. She spent most of her adult life on the Gamble Farm on Davis Ford Road, where she raised her family, cooked, gardened, canned and froze produce. While her family came first her church was next. She was a longtime member of East Maryville Baptist Church though she moved her letter to Pleasant Grove Baptist in 1963. Always active in other things as she was able, in the Blount County Republican, Blount County Republican Women, Blount County Republican Executive Committee, Blount Livestock Association, Blount County Livestocketts, and Blount County Farm Bureau. Irene is survived by sons, Roy Gamble, Bob Gamble (Debby); daughter, Sarah Scarborough; three grandchildren, Jess (Shannon) Gamble, Amanda (Jeff) Roberson, Norah Beth (Brandon) Hord; six great grandchildren, James and Savannah Gamble, Hannah and Abbey Roberson, Sierra and Dakota Hord all of Maryville; one sister Mary Lou Booth and one brother, Pershing (Ann) Thomas; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 10:00 AM-12:00 PM Saturday, April 15, 2023, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 12:00 PM with Rev. Greg Long officiating. The interment will follow in Centennial Church Cemetery.
