Hugh Leonard Greene

GREENE, Hugh Leonard, age 83 years, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2004. He was an active member and Deacon of Friendsville Baptist Church. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was retired from Asbury Acres Retirement Center as Maintenance Supervisor. Prior employment included home building, a love he returned to with his son, John of John Greene Builders, after his retirement. He enjoyed farming and was a member of the Board of Directors of Blount County Mutual Fire Insurance. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Evelyn Bowerman Greene; parents, E. J. and Rena Greene; brother, Horace Greene and granddaughter, Jennifer Greene. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Vicky Greene, John and Randi Greene, Edmond and Betty Greene all of Friendsville; grandchildren, Edmond Greene, Crystal Greene, Jonathan Greene and wife Lori, Jeff Greene, and Tina Murr; brother, Herbert Greene; several nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Grubb, Rev. Clarence Byrd and Jackie Midkiff, Minister officiating. The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Zions Chapel Cemetery.
