Horace L. Downey

Horace L. Downey age, 78 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Tennova Healthcare Residential Hospice. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, retired from the Knoxville News Sentinel with 30 years of service and also The Daily Times with 11 years of service. He was a member of Gideon's International, longtime umpire with Parks and Recreation, and was an avid fisherman. He dearly loved his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruby Downey; sisters, Kathleen, Eveleen, and Shirley; brother, Raymond. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Downey; daughters, Lori Christopher and husband Mark; Lisa Bell; son, Toby Downey and wife Julie; grandchildren, Adam Crisp, Cayce Crisp, Jesse Crisp, Taylor Townsend, Justus Bell, and Heather Rush; beloved pets, Morgan and Sassy; sisters and brothers, Lucille McCall, Junior Downey, Sarah Aro, and Donald Downey. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 7:00 pm with Toby Downey and Adam Crisp officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Carpenter's Campground Cemetery for interment.
