Horace E. Kidd

February 15, 2002 KIDD, Horace E., age 88 of Bettendorf, IA, formerly of Maryville, died Wednesday, February 13, 2002, at the Iowa Masonic Home in Bettendorf. He was born November 29, 1913 in Maryville, TN, to Horace G. and Minnie Kidd. He married Louise Denton in Middlesboro, KY in 1936. Horace was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Davenport, IA. He was employed at ALCOA for 42 years before retiring in 1976. He began his employment at Alcoa, TN, transferring to the Chicago plant during WWII. He started at the Davenport Works in January 1948 during the construction of the plant. When he retired, he was Superintendent of Mill Maintenance and the Machine Shop. He was also a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Club and the ALCOA Retirees Club. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. His hobbies included fishing, bowling and woodworking. He was blessed with a quick wit, a keen sense of humor and great charm. He had an abiding love for East Tennessee and the Smoky Mountains. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Louise; daughter and son-in-law, Edwina “Eddy” and Paul Jones of LeClaire, IA; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Becky Kidd of Springfield, IL; 4 grandchildren, James Beghtol, Robert Beghtol, Maggie Kidd and Erik Kidd; 3 great grandchildren, Josh and Morgan Beghtol and Tanner Kidd. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl White officiating. The entombment will follow in Grandview Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00 p.m. Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
