Hilda Virginia Roberts Walker

Hilda Roberts Walker, born October 26, 1928, passed away peacefully Wednesday March 6, 2019 surrounded by her family. Preceded in death by husband Donald Greer Walker, son Donald Gary Walker, parents Jackson Wright Roberts and Essie Taylor Roberts, and brothers Milton and Maurice Roberts. Survived by son T. Rob Walker and wife Michel; granddaughters Sarah W. Delpy and husband JJ, Shelby W. McCulla and husband Johnathan, and Robi Walker. Born in Early County, Georgia and grew up in Marianna, Florida. She was a graduate of Maryville College with a BS degree in dietetics followed by her post graduate work at Colorado State Hospital. Was a member of the American Dietetic Association as a registered dietitian until retiring in 1993. Worked at the University of Iowa in the departments of Nutrition and Physiology as a research dietitian. Upon getting married and moving to Maryville she worked at Blount Memorial Hospital as therapeutic dietitian and Department Head. The last 19 years of her working career was spent with Maryville City Schools in charge of the food service. She thoroughly enjoyed working for the school system and providing healthy meals for children. A member of New Providence Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Deacons. On the Board of Maryville Housing Authority since 1993 to 2019 and honored by having the new administrative building named after her. Member of the Chilhowee Club, and Blount County Farm Bureau Women. The family expresses their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Morning View Transitional Care. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with the service to follow at 7.p.m Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Monday at Big Springs Cemetery for the interment service.
