Herbert Denton Rolen

Herbert Denton Rolen, age 93, of Maryville, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011. He was born in Sevier County, Tennessee, on July 19, 1917. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Merchant Marines for 30 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Lavator and Ollie Bell Hicks Rolen, his sisters Sammie Sue Green, Bennie Zue Rolen and Georgeanna Denton, and his brothers, Hollis and Milas Rolen. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ruth Perkins Giffin Rolen. He is also survived by his step children, Phillip Giffin, Linda (husband Ray) Hester, Rebecca Becker and Pamela DeBault, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is survived by nephew Milas Rolen, and nieces, Sylvia Bright, Peggy Sanford, Pat Whited and Tippie Ann Denton. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Tucker officiating. The Interment to follow at Carpenter’s Cemetery. The family will receive 1:00- 2:00 p.m Sunday at the funeral home. The family wishes to express appreciation to the Colonial Hills staff for their loving care shown our husband and father during his time there.
