Henry went to be with Jesus Friday, October 18, 2024 at Sacred Ground Hospice House. Henry was born September 19, 1949 in Parkersburg, WV to the late Vernon and Madaline James. Henry graduated high school and took two years of college. Henry joined the Navy, March 1971 with the rank of EMFN (Electricians Mate Fireman) Grade E3. He was stationed on the USS Sarsfield a Navy Destroyer at Mayport, FL. Henry served in the Vietnam waters from May 1972 to Sept. 1972. He was a Ships Electrician. Henry earned the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Metal and Combat Action Ribbon. Henry’s last duty was on the USS Sarsfield. He took early Honorable Authorized Separation. He left in Feb. 1973. Henry was an amazing man that loved God first. He was the love of my life for 12 beautiful years. Henry enjoyed Co-Teaching about God to our senior class (Stars) at church. He really enjoyed the research. We made a trip to Israel and Honduras. It was our plan to someday go back to Honduras, such a special place. They are so hungry for God. I thank God for everyday I had with Henry. I thank God Henry is hearing “well done good and faithful servant”. Henry is survived by his wife, Suzanne; His brothers, Ed James and Richard (Deniese) James; sister-in-law, Sherry Dexter; brother-in-law, Stephen (LouEllen) Dexter. Henry has many extended family members and close friends that will remember him fondly. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barb Poole. Henry is dancing in heaven on the streets of gold. He will be deeply missed by all.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 24th from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 in McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel with Rev. Lane Davis officiating. The Entombment service will follow at Grandview Cemetery 2304 Tuckaleechee Pike Maryville TN 37803 at 3:00 P.M.
