Helen Spears

Helen McMillan Spears - age 69 of Alcoa passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at U.T. Medical Center. She was born June 11, 1948, and was a member of Alcoa First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Alcoa High where she was a cheerleader and voted Ms. Alcoa High School. She attended ETSU, worked in the U.S. District Court for 28 years and also the Blount County Circuit Court. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Evelyn McMillan. Survivors include her husband, Michael B. Spears; children, Bo Spears (Robin), Susan Pershing (Brad), D.J. Spears (Mandy); grandchildren, Carl, Mac, Cash, Denn and Adley; sister, Mary Alice Hart (Gary); many nieces, nephews and dear friends. A Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, March 29, from 6-9:00 p.m. at The Capital Theater. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Alcoa First United Methodist Church.
