H.D. Shamblin

H.D. Shamblin age 90 of Maryville, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the family home. Mr. Shamblin was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church of Maryville. He was a 1939 graduate and valedictorian of Alcoa High School, graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, December of 1943, served 2 years in World War II as a Electronics Officer and retired Lieutenant Commander from the U.S. Naval Reserve, retired as Vice-President after 35 years with Aeronautical Communications Equipment, Inc., (Miami Florida), 1982, retired after 15 years of service as Electrical Training Specialist (contract employee) for Alcoa (Tennessee Operations) 1998. Preceded in death by father and mother, G.B. Shamblin and Lily Mae (Breeden) Shamblin; daughters, Caroline Jean (infant) and Sharon Raye Parker (NC); sister, Dorothy Fonner(FL); brother, Bryan Shamblin (IN). Survivors: wife of 67 years: Nina Long Shamblin; sons: Richard Shamblin (Lenoir City, TN) and Alan Shamblin (Louisville, TN); grandchildren: Lorraine Patterson (Franklin, TN), Ryan Shamblin (Knoxville, TN), Yvette Justice (Knoxville, TN), Kristen Clippard (Lowell, NC) and Benjamin Shamblin (Knoxville, TN); great granddaughters: Holly and Lauren Patterson (Franklin, TN), Anna Robinson (Knoxville, TN), and Carleigh Clippard (Lowell, NC); great grandson: Nathan Clippard (Lowell, NC); brothers: Austin (Maryville, TN), Arnold (Vonore, TN), Norman (Alcoa, TN), Jack (Greenfield, IN); nieces and nephews. Family will meet at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home to proceed at 11:30 a.m. to Grandview Cemetery for a 12:00 noon graveside service with Dr. John Sharp and Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. Friends may call at their convenience 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
