Harold Eugene Kidd, age 75 of Maryville, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, April 29, 2010. His beloved wife, Barbara, was at his side as he fought a two-year battle with cancer. He was born September 14, 1934 and was a life-long resident of Blount County. Since January, 1988, he had been a devoted and cherished member of Dotson Memorial Baptist Church where he served as treasurer. He had also served as a deacon for many years. Harold was a prayer warrior and was known for his sweet sincere way of praying which made one know he was truly in the presence of the Lord. Harold was a well known and respected business man in Blount County for many years. He owned and operated Harold Kidd Grocery on Morganton Road and in later years worked at a local produce market. He also served his country and was as a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lucille Johnson Kidd; brother, Bill Kidd. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara Rapier Kidd; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Ronnie Roach, Linda and Don Brown all of Maryville; sisters, Wanda Burchfield of St. Louis, MO, Joan Busman of Laurel Hill, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Norma Kidd, Ricky and Vickie Kidd all of Maryville, Jerry and Rochelle Kidd of OH; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Terry and Gloria Rapier of Maryville; sister-in-law, Deedra Rapier of Knoxville; aunt, Willie Borden of Englewood; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Grandview Mausoleum for an entombment service. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, at Dotson Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Dale Ellenburg and Dr. Charles Sullivan officiating.
