Harold E. ''Ham'' ''Candy Man'' Ammons

June 11, 1918 — September 20, 2010

Harold E. “Ham” (Candy Man) Ammons, age 92 of Louisville, passed away Monday, September 20, 2010, at his home. He was a member of Middlesettlements United Methodist Church, was a graduate of Everett High School and President of his Senior Class of 1939 and graduated from Maryville College. He was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted pre Pearl Harbor, with the U. S. Army, 191st Field Artillery Division, Battery C, was retired from ALCOA and a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club. Until his death, he enjoyed his Breakfast Club at Midland Restaurant, was an avid gardener, enjoyed fast pitch softball, loved to fish, the outdoors and visiting shut-ins. He was a loving father to all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He never met a stranger. Mr. Ammons was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia “Benny” Ammons; brothers, Kenneth Ammons, Donald Ammons, Action Ammons and Bob Ammons; sisters, Grace Anderson and Mary Russell. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Harold E., II and Rachel Ammons, Robert Shawn and Sandra Ammons; son, Allen Maxwell Ammons all of Louisville; daughter and son-in-law, Tana and Bruce Rudder of Knoxville; daughter, Zoe Ann Ammons of Knoxville; special daughter, Pat Lukosius of Knoxville; grandchildren, Boone Rudder and wife Renee, Nathan Rudder, Bethany Weatherly and husband Josh, Brittany Ammons, Brianna Ammons, Scott Underwood and wife Heather; great grandchildren, Jackson Underwood and Anniston Underwood; sister-in-law, Betty Ammons; special friend and care giver, Sue Monroe; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Middlesettlements United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Black and Rev. Rex Rogers officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Middlesettlements Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Church.
