Harold Dean Walker - I was born September 1, 1934 in Goin, TN (Tazewell), passed away August 14, 2019. I grew up at Goin and Sharps Chapel. Preceded in death by my parents, Lon and Goldie (Cole) Walker; brothers, Gene and Jerry, all who I have missed for several years as they all died in the 1950's. I came to Blount County in the early 40's where I have been truly blessed by some of the greatest people on earth and I hope you all know that.
God truly blessed me with a wonderful mate, Peggy, daughter of the late Lon and Jessie Huffstetler. Peggy gave me two great sons, Barry and Brian (Pam). They gave me three fabulous grandsons, Derek (AnnRenee), Andy (Lindsay) and Jesse (Emily); great-grandchildren, Colton and Taylen who provided me some of my very best years. My nephew, Doyle and Niece, Norma Jean.
My passion in life has been music which is good for the soul and I hope to sing in God’s Glorious Choir. I played my ole guitar all over Blount County in my teen years playing mostly with Tommy Covington’s Band, Archie Campbell, Renfro Valley, auditioned for the Grand Ole Opry in the 1950's then decided I had to get a paying job. I enjoyed almost 15 months as a brass tuba player with the 24th Inf. Div. and the 1st Calvary Div. Bands in Korea.
To my great friends and relatives far and wide thank you for some wonderful happy years. God Truly Blessed Me. To those I’m leaving behind if I failed to say “I Love You” and forgive me.
I’ll see you down the road.
The family requests you leave your condolences on the McCammon-Ammons-Click website.
