Gy. Sgt. "Ret" Edward "Ed" Erwin Cody, age 85 of Maryville, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, at Asbury Place. Mr. Cody was a Retired Gy. Sgt. of the USMC with 22 years service and served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After leaving the Marine Corps, Mr. Cody worked as a detective for the Blount County Sheriff's Office and the Alcoa Police Department before leaving to begin a business with his son, David Cody, Cody's Machine Shop and Automotive that operated in the same location for 37 years. He was preceded in death by son, David Cody; parents, Elmer Henry Cody and Thelma Welch Cody; sister, Evelyn Lovingood. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edith Marie Cody; daughter, Annette Cody Boring; grandchildren, Jessica Boring and Isaac Boring; brothers, Cliff Cody and Carroll Douglas Cody and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Hickman officiating. The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
