Daniel Robert Kelly, Gunnery Sergeant, US Marine Corps, retired, passed away Monday, Sept.12, at the age of 44, in Okinawa, Japan, where he lived with his wife, Asako, and their 3 sons, Sean-13, Christopher-8, and Stephen-6. “Danny”, as he was most known by his local friends and Maryville High School classmates was an active member at the First Baptist Church in Maryville, before he went to college and joined the Marine Corps. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Robert Kelly, and is survived by his mother Jackie (McClure) Kelly of Maryville. He is also survived by his eldest son, Joshua-19, his older sister Rebecca Fox, and his younger sister Stephanie Bates. Funeral services for Dan will be held on Friday, Sept. 23, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home located on Broadway Street in Maryville. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm and the funeral service will start at 3:00 with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. Immediately following the funeral there will be a procession to Grandview Cemetery to the gravesite, where full military honors will be given for this man who was a dedicated protector of our freedoms.
