Mr. Glenn Lee Simerly, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 21st surrounded by family. Glenn was born on July 14, 1941, to the late Vernace Doyle Simerly and Anthis McHaffie Simerly in Mizer Station, TN.
Glenn attended Mizer Station School and began working on a farm close to home. He then served as a First Class Gunner in the Second Armored Division of the United States Army.
Glenn was employed by The University of Tennessee in Grounds and Maintenance for forty-two years. After retiring, he spent his days doing his favorite things: fishing and riding his Harley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Simerly and sister, Dorothy Thomas.
Glenn is survived by his sons, Glenn Simerly, Jr. and wife Jeanine, Jeff Simerly and wife Marnie; daughter, Kristi Delozier; grandchildren, Tracie, Jessie (Zach), Katie, Addison, Matthew, Erin, Jade and Cory; great-grandchildren, Camden and Carter; brother Donald Simerly; Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 26, 2024, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with funeral services to follow at 7:00 P.M. The interment will be 3:00 P.M. Friday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Ben Atchley Veterans Home, 1 Veterans Way, Knoxville, TN 37931.
