Gleason Nelson

August 20, 1919 — March 7, 2015

Gleason Nelson, age 95 of Maryville passed away Saturday March 7, 2015 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was retired from the Blount County Highway Department and was a deacon and charter member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraline "Jean" Jenkins Nelson, parents, Mead and Della Nelson, six brothers and four sisters, second wife Susie Mae Brewer Nelson., stepson, Raymond Hodge. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Stanley and Edna Nelson, "adopted son"Chris and Teri Finger, step daughter, Unav and JB Campbell of Birmingham AL, step son Don and Peggy Hodge of Wilmington OH, step daughter in law, Mary Hodge of Kettering, OH, grandchildren, April and Keith Wade, David Nelson, great granddaughter Mary Beth Wade (Pride and Joy), 10 step grandchildren and 12 step great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren. Sister in law, Betty Nelson of Friendsville, a host of nieces and nephews, special friends, JJ and Denise Roberson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Mr. Nelson will lay in state at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with the funeral and burial to follow with Rev. Terry Nelson, Rev. Ricky Boring and Rev. Allen Birchfield officiating.. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
